Operation Graduation
With the Dean’s announcement of Operation Graduation, this course is officially paused until 13 April. When classes resume, we will re-align with the M/T day schedule of the revised academic calendar for the spring semester. No content will be due until that time.
With that said, a large portion of the course is already built out for asynchronous online learning. I encourage you to work through a couple of lessons each week and complete the assignments so that you’re ahead when classes resume. In fact, you might be able to complete the rest of this course if you wanted!
If you do work ahead, you should review the lessons when they are officially due – in some cases the learning activities might change, though I expect such changes to be minor.)
To support anyone who is working ahead, I will continue to hold office hours according to the posted schedule and treating next week like a T-day week. Some of you may also advance beyond the lessons that I’ve revised (currently REST and JSON), in which case I’d greatly appreciate feedback on how long you spend on the various learning activities.
My priorities between now and 13 April are as follows:
- Support Operation Graduation
- Catch up on grading, specifically the SQL Assessment and HTML and CSS assignment
- Write the programming exercise (PEX) on B+ trees
- Complete revisions to the remaining lessons – i.e., review the material and add estimates to the learning activities
- Support other course directors with their transition to online learning
Finally, please be aware that due dates may be wrong in Blackboard until the revised academic calendar is available. As a reminder, nothing is due until at least 13 April.
